Pro-Trump lawyer calls Mike Pence ‘Wolf in sheep’s clothing’ focused only on 2024

Lawyer Lin Wood, who helped President Donald Trump’s legal team file lawsuits challenging the results of the 2020 presidential election, posted on Parler on Wednesday that he did not trust Vice President Mike Pence.

As part of his role as president of the Senate, Pence is expected to chair the certification of Congressional electoral votes in January. President-elect Joe Biden won the Electoral College in the November election and is widely expected to be confirmed as the next president.

Trump encouraged Republican lawmakers to challenge the electoral vote to overturn the election results. Some Republicans pressured Pence to reject electoral votes from states where voting fraud was alleged to have occurred. Wood expressed his distrust of Pence in a message that the Twitter feed Parlertakes posted with the caption, “Lin Wood continues his attack on everyone in the world”.

“Hard way to start the day, but TRUTH is TRUTH,” Wood posted. “I DO NOT trust VP Mike Pence. He is a wolf in sheep’s clothing. Pence is focused only on himself and 2024. He does not support President Trump. Let Pence hear his voices and read his words. If he does not support Trump, your career is over. Let him know. “

Wood served as a lawyer in several high-profile cases, representing clients such as teenage sniper Kenosha Kyle Rittenhouse and Mark and Patricia McCloskey, who were indicted in October for illegal weapon use and tampering with evidence. The McCloskeys gained some notoriety after brandishing weapons at a demonstration of the Black Lives Matter in their neighborhood, which threatened to invade their property.

Newsweek contacted Pence’s office for comment.

Trump argued unfoundedly that the electoral fraud perpetrated by Democrats allowed Biden to win the election. Several lawsuits alleging electoral manipulation have been filed by Trump’s legal team, but most of these lawsuits have been dismissed. With inauguration day fast approaching, Trump has yet to grant Biden the election.

Since all 50 states have already certified their electoral votes, Pence’s authority to overturn the results is minimal. However, Texas Republican MP Louie Gohmert filed a lawsuit against Pence on Monday, trying to prevent Pence from declaring Biden the winner of the Electoral College.

Gohmert’s claim alleges that Pence has “exclusive authority and sole discretion to open and allow counting of electoral votes for a given state.” According to the lawsuit, Pence de Biden’s declaration as the next president would be “unconstitutional”.

“Five states are sending two sets of voters and [Pence] needs to be able to determine which ones are based on fraud and which are not based on fraud, “Gohmert said in an interview with KLTV on Wednesday.” So that’s what we’re looking for, a statement that he can do just that. “

According to the lawsuit, Gohmert’s lawyers tried to “resolve the underlying legal issues by agreement” with Pence before the dispute was dismissed. These attempts “were not successful”.
