She achieved fame after winning Miss World in 2000, before becoming an extremely popular movie star in her native India.
And Priyanka Chopra, 38, continues to exude captivating glamor while stamping the cover of the March issue of Elle UK, posing in a series of themed fitness sets.
In the interview that followed, the movie star admitted she was “shocked” when her 28-year-old husband, Nick Jonas, proposed to her after just two months of dating.

In her essay for the publication, the star proudly displays her enviably toned body in a variety of short flared tops, along with shorts and baggy pants.
Away from her sports photos, the beauty queen talked about her turbulent romance with American heartthrob Nick, which started in May 2018.
On July 19 of that year – the day after Priyanka celebrated his birthday – Nick proposed while they were enjoying a romantic break on the Greek island of Crete.
Speaking of the proposal, the star said: ‘I didn’t expect the proposal at that time … It was two months! I thought it was going to happen, but it was still a total shock. [But] I gave up control and just went with it. ‘

She opened up about how their romance developed, explaining: ‘We were meeting sporadically for about two years. We were exchanging text messages and stuff, and there may be a part of me that wanted something serious.
‘But I was taking a hiatus from guys at that point. I didn’t want anyone romantically. But there was always something about Nick, which is why we always end up in touch, no matter where we are.
‘One thing you should know about my husband is that when he makes up his mind, he will get what he wants! When he knows, he knows. There is such a sublime confidence in it that you can’t help it and you’re like, ‘OK’.
The pair were to be married in a sumptuous ceremony at Jodphur’s Umaid Bhawan Palace in December 2018, ending a life-changing year.
Now, says Priyanka, they are overcoming the challenge of ensuring that they meet every three weeks, as their busy careers keep them in different parts of the world.

She said to Elle: ‘We see each other every three weeks. Wherever we are in the world, we fly to each other at least once a month for a few days. It was our rule when we got married. Otherwise, we would never see each other.
Marriage was not the only major recent change for Priyanka, who had to start his career from scratch after leaving stardom in India for a new life in the United States.
‘The audition process was taboo in India at that time, [especially] when you become a great actor, ‘she said. ‘Now, it has changed a lot, but 10 years ago, testing was not something you did.
‘But [in Hollywood] it was culture, so I had to learn that. I learned that I can’t rest on my laurels and that I have to go into a room and introduce myself to people and not feel right.
‘Just because a large part of the world can know me, that [doesn’t mean] everyone should. It is always difficult to start a new career. And I treated it completely [moving to America] as a new career.

‘If you think about it, I’ve only been an actor in the United States for five years. I’m almost starting to do the job I really want. It takes time in each career. ‘
Pursuing gold in Hollywood has also potentially meant the dismantling of barriers as one of the few actresses in South Asia in leading roles outside the continent.
“I think there is such a huge space for Indian talent,” she said. ‘But it will require a mobilization of our community to support each other, instead of overthrowing each other.
‘Me and Mindy [Mindy Kaling], that’s how this collaboration happened. [She will be starring alongside Kaling in the first-ever female-led comedy with a completely South Asian cast]

‘I was like,’ I want to create opportunities as a producer for people from South Asia in Hollywood, like I never had. ‘I had to fight for this.
‘I had to say,’ I don’t want to do the extra Indian accent. If my character was born and raised in the UK or the United States, why would she say that? Why would you use a bindi? “
“It is a silly and stereotyped thing. I challenged that a lot and now I’m reaching a point in Hollywood where my culture is my asset, rather than my definition. ‘
However, as she continues to make headway in Hollywood, Priyanka, who recently released her memoir Unfinished, is more withdrawn when it comes to social media.
She said: ‘My relationship with social media has changed in the past four to five years. I’m definitely a lot more cautious now. I don’t interact much.
‘[Before], if I didn’t sleep or if I was bored in a trailer, I would start a Q&A with the fans or go live on Instagram. I’m much more careful [now]. It broke my heart a little. The succession of all this, how easy it is to take something trivial and make it so big … ‘
