Prince Philip was transferred back to a private hospital while recovering from cardiac surgery, says the palace

Prince Philip was transferred to a private hospital, where he will continue his recovery after a cardiac procedure, Buckingham Palace said on Friday.

The palace said the 99-year-old British monarch underwent a successful procedure for pre-existing heart disease at St Bartholomew Hospital on Wednesday.

He was transferred to King Edward VII’s hospital on Friday and “is expected to remain in the hospital to continue treatment for several days,” the palace said.

Philip was admitted to a private London hospital on February 16, where he was treated for an infection. He was transferred to a hospital specializing in cardiology on Monday.

PRINCE PHILIP RECOVERS AFTER HEART SURGERY, BUCKINGHAM PALACE SAYS

Philip’s disease is not believed to be related to the coronavirus. Filipe and the monarch received the COVID-19 vaccine in January and chose to disclose the fact in order to encourage others to also get the vaccine.

Philip, also known as the Duke of Edinburgh, retired in 2017 and rarely appears in public. Before his hospitalization, he had isolated himself at Windsor Castle, west of London, with Queen Elizabeth II.

Although he enjoyed good health until old age, Philip has had heart problems in the past. In 2011, he was rushed to a hospital by helicopter after suffering chest pain and was treated for a blocked coronary artery.
