Prince Philip moves to King Edward VII Hospital after a cardiac procedure

The move is the second in less than a week for the Duke of Edinburgh, Queen Elizabeth II’s 99-year-old husband.

He was transferred to St. Bartholomew’s Hospital, also in London, on Monday to continue treating an infection and for what the Palace said was testing and observation for pre-existing heart disease. On Thursday, the palace said he underwent a cardiac procedure there.

“After the Duke of Edinburgh’s successful procedure at St. Bartholomew’s Hospital on Wednesday, His Royal Highness was transferred to King Edward VII Hospital this morning,” the statement said Friday.

“Duke must remain in the hospital to continue treatment for several days.”

Philip was first admitted to King Edward VII Hospital on February 16 “after feeling bad”. Later, the palace confirmed that he was being treated for an infection.
