Since their royal departure last spring, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have gone through a lot, including several changes before settling in their home forever in Montecito, California.

Omid Scobie and Carolyn Durand, co-authors of Finding Freedom, continued to report the couple’s transition, even after publishing their successful book on the real way out.

Scobie wrote that the Sussex journey has been “painful”, while Durand spoke to a friend of Meghan’s who described the struggles they faced when their nanny left her job to return to the UK when they moved to California.
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle had quite a year. Since their royal departure, the couple moved across the Atlantic to North America, where they moved several times before settling in their home forever in Montecito, California. That would be stressful enough, of course, but Harry and Meghan made their big life changes in the midst of a global pandemic that made it impossible for them to visit Harry’s family in the UK for months.
Still, despite everything, the couple is thriving. In a play for Grazia, Finding Freedom co-author Omid Scobie described the Sussex year, writing: “Being where they are now, having established an empire and charity in just over nine months, shows how hard they worked to make this transition a success, but it took too long work to get here. The journey was painful. “
Part of that pain comes from the loneliness that Harry and Meghan experienced. In addition to being separated from the rest of the royal family, the couple was abandoned by an important member of their team at the beginning of their transition, apparently.
“It’s been a lot,” said a friend of Meghan’s Carolyn Durand, the other half of Finding Freedom writing team, according to the Daily Mail. “Their nanny came back to the UK when they moved to Los Angeles because of the pandemic and the restrictions left them feeling quite alone. Each change left them more out of place.
Now, of course, Harry and Meghan are supposed to be feeling much more accommodated. A source said recently that the couple “do not regret” their real departure because “they feel very rewarded with their work”.
