Postmaster General Louis DeJoy plans to eliminate two-day local delivery for first-class mail, bundling it with the three to five-day postal service envelopes, and prohibiting first-class mail delivered by air, The Washington Post reports. Only 38 percent of two-day First Class mail is currently being delivered, according to the records of the Federal Post Office, and the agency is financially submerged, having lost $ 9.2 billion last year due to a reduction in correspondence during the coronavirus pandemic and almost $ 200 billion in debt.
