Speaks Federico Chiesa: “Our approach was bad and the game became even more difficult for us after that opening goal,” he told a UEFA reporter. “When you’re not fully focused and you’re not doing your best, [teams can] punish you at this level. “

At the final whistle: Several Juventus players surrounded the referee of the match Carlos del Carro, asking as strongly as possible why he did not award them a penalty for Sanusi’s challenge to Ronaldo at the end of the game. My reading, for what it’s worth, is that Ronaldo was trying to turn a Cruyff corner in the area, lost his balance and Sanusi just crashed into him when he was falling. Therefore, without penalty. However, I would not have been surprised at all if it had been given and I am surprised that Mr Del Carro at least did not take a look at his field monitor.

Some post-game reflections: Porto will be delighted with their first victory over Juventus … of course they will. However, the joy of the occasion will be tempered by the knowledge that they could and should have won with much more. The Italian champions stank the Estádio do Dragão this evening and were a pale imitation of themselves. They will be extremely relieved to have escaped with just a 2-1 loss and the away goal that came with it due to such a terrible performance.

Final: Porto 2-1 Juventus
Peep! Peep! Peeeeeeep! It’s all over in Porto, where the home team won by an odd goal of three.
21:55
90 + 3 min: A late attack by Juventus. Cristiano Ronaldo calls for a penalty after falling into a pile under Zaido Sanusi’s push while trying to control a long ball from De Ligt. There is no doubt that he took a shove, but he was already going to the ground when it happened.
21:52
90 + 2 min: Alex Sandro hits one for the team, knocking Mehdi Taremi down when the striker advanced into the Juve area. It is just a reservation because Matthijs De Ligt was close by. On a free kick, Szczesny loses the ball, but runs away.
21:50
90 + 1 min: FC Porto hired two more subs to try to delay time, including the son of their coach, Francisco.
21:49
89 min: There is no bad victory over Juventus, but if it continues like that, Porto will be disappointed, as they conceded an away goal. The Italian team was so indescribably bad for most of tonight’s match that they couldn’t complain if they left the Estádio do Dragão on the wrong side of the hideout. As it stands, they will find this result excellent. Pirlo’s substitutions saved the bacon from his side.
21:46
87 min: Porto comes close when Mateus Uribe throws the ball over a Juve defender in Taremi’s chest. Before he can pull the trigger four or five yards, the ball is thrown into the corner by De Ligt. Nothing comes out of the set piece.

GOAL! Porto 2-1 Juventus (Chiesa 82)
Juventus backed off. Adrien Rabiot runs behind Porto’s defense and pulls the ball back into his area. Federico Chiesa faces for the first time about 14 meters from the goal, driving the ball into the ground and spinning in celebration as it bounces up and passes Marchesin.

77 min: Alvaro Morata is played behind the defense of Porto and brings a smart defense from Marchesin. He was stopped.

75 min: Álvaro Morata asks for a penalty after being stripped of the clumsy Chancellor Mbemba, but he did not break any law. The Spaniard has to settle for a corner.
21:32
73 min: Bentancur slides to deny Uribe the opportunity to send a cross for Juve’s penalty. From the next corner, Sergio Oliveira’s corner is cleared at the next post.
9:30 pm
71 min: Good job from Ronaldo, who gallops down the left flank before making a low cross for Chiesa. His shot is blocked by Agustin Marchesin, but the flag goes up. Alvaro Morata was restrained while he lurked in the hope of attacking any crumb in the shape and size of football that fell from Marchesin’s table.

68 min: Entrepreneurial material from Jesus Corona, who has his back to Juve’s goal from about 20 meters away, throws the ball in the air to set up his own acrobatic bicycle kick. His shot is deflected over the bar by Szczesny, but he would not have counted if he had entered. The referee noticed one or another infraction.
21:26
67 min: Porto substitution: Moussa Marega, author of Porto’s second goal 20 seconds into the second half, sent off. He is replaced by Marco Grujic, the Serbian midfielder on loan from Porto to Liverpool.
21:25
66 min: Rodrigo Bentancur tries his luck with a long shot. He hardly used a backlift, but hit the ball with poison. Over the bar, but not much.
21:23
65 min: Morata catches the ball and advances, but is knocked down by Mateus Uribe.
21:22
64 min: Juventus replacement: Alvaro Morata replaces Weston McKinnie.

56 min: Dejan Kulusevski has a half chance cut by Merih Demiral and it’s all that Juventus has had in a chance so far this time.

52 min: Sergio Oliveira appears in the penalty area on the other side of the field, making a smart save from Wojciech Szczesny, who looked a little confused and had to shift the weight from one foot to the other to reach the ball. Maybe the kick was offended – Juventus is taking a beating here.
21:10
50 min: Juventus wins a corner and the ball is shot in the next post by Sandro. Sergio Oliveira paves the way.
21:08
48 min: Porto galloped upwards from the kick-off and the ball was pulled back to Marega in the great area of the end line. The first touch was sublime and took him away from Federico Chiesa, before hitting a moderate shot in the goal of Szczesny, who was defeated near the post.

Second half: Porto 1-0 Juventus
46 min: Play redsumes without personnel changes on either side. I’m surprised that Alvaro Morata was not sent to hit by Pirlo, as Dejan Kusulevski barely got a kick.

Range: FC Porto 1-0 Juventus
Peep! That’s his luck in the first half, which had the worst possible start for Juventus when Mehdi Taremi took advantage of Rodrigo Bentancur’s mistake to score an opportunistic goal. Juve has been surprisingly slow and already seems genuinely out of ideas. I suspect that we will see one or two changes in Andrea Pirlo soon. It has been very comfortable for Porto, whose defense seems extremely secure.
20:46
45 + 1 min: Ronaldo tries to enter the great area of Porto from the left, but is eliminated.
20:45
45 min: Ronaldo gets a corner for his team after one of these excursions. Bentancur’s shot is free-headed, despite Ronaldo’s best efforts to reach the ball.
20:44
44 min: We are almost at the break and Cristiano Ronaldo gave just a touch in the big area of Porto. He’s also getting frustrated, going deeper and deeper in an attempt to get more time with the ball.
20:43
41 min: Another free kick from the same area. The ball is sent to the second post again and passes to Adrien Rabiot, whose head kick is parried by Marchesin, who hits it wide. It was a spectacular-looking effort, but it lacked real poison. It was also Juve’s first shot at the target.
20:40
40 min: Juve’s free-kick on the right after Sergio Oliveira’s foul on Matthijs De Ligt. Bentancur finally hits one and Cristiano Ronaldo hits the second post. His header down doesn’t bother Marchesin.
