Policeman saves a dog walking in the Christmas explosion in Nashville

An early Christmas walk with his dog almost spelled disaster for David Malloy, but they were saved by a fast-acting policeman who stopped his progress seconds before a trailer full of explosives exploded.

The Nashville resident said he noticed police cars on his block when he went out with his DJ dog around 6:30 am Friday morning. He heard a recorded warning, but thought it came from the police, not from the armed motorhome that was about to explode.

One of the policemen who was evacuating the area ran to Malloy and told him to leave. Malloy was asking why he had to leave when the explosion occurred, damaging buildings and smashing windows into blocks. He attributed the saving of his life to the officer by interrupting his progress.

“We were very lucky not to get hurt,” Malloy told WKRN, an ABC regional affiliate, explaining that his building’s windows were broken. “Obviously, it scared us a lot.”

At least it scared humans.

Malloy said that DJ “didn’t bother with it too much. I hope she is well. “

He said he felt lucky that they managed to avoid injuries or worse. “So lucky, are you kidding me? Debris and glass everywhere, and it’s my Christmas miracle, I’ll tell you that. “
