The Pokémon series has always had a hacking problem, thanks to programs that can generate monsters, but now, anyone who is playing with “illegally modified data” has been warned.
On the official Japanese page written by The Pokémon Company, you can now find a warning for hackers who are using their powers to cause “problems with the operation of software and applications or cause inconvenience to other users”. People who fall into this situation can expect “restrictions” placed on their games, including “swap functions” and the inability to use supplements like Pokémon Home.
If that happens, The Pokémon Company says that users should not expect a refund and that the company reserves the right to distribute these punishments “indefinitely”. The notice also says that The Pokémon Company may also disclose other measures not described in the post at its discretion.
“We will regularly monitor and respond to fraudulent and irritating acts so that our users can have fun with peace of mind,” says the warning.
In the past, hackers have been able to modify things like hacking, sometimes using their powers to insert monsters into the game that are not normally available. Many users choose to hack their monsters to get perfect stats, as creation can take time – but it is not clear whether these players will be affected if they keep a low profile. In previous Pokémon games online, thousands of hackers were banned for similar crimes.
