Paris Saint-Germain finally confirmed Thomas Tuchel’s resignation almost a week after taking down his former coach.
Tuchel was removed from his post just four months after taking the Ligue 1 giants to the Champions League final and is due to be replaced soon by Mauricio Pochettino.
The 47-year-old left hours after the heavy win against Strasbourg on Wednesday and after winning consecutive league titles, as well as the Coupe de France and Coupe de la Ligue trophies.

The club announced in a brief statement on Tuesday that, after an ‘in-depth analysis’ of his current state, Tuchel was fired.
PSG President Nasser Al-Khelaifi said: ‘I would like to thank Thomas Tuchel and his team for everything they have brought to the Club.
‘Thomas has put a lot of energy and passion into his work and, of course, we will remember the good times we shared together. I wish you the best for your future. ‘

The process to secure Tuchel’s successor appears to have taken only a few days, with former Tottenham coach Pochettino, who say he has already signed his contract with the club.
Sportsmail informed shortly after Tuchel’s departure that the discussions between Pochettino and PSG had taken place.
The role would be his first since leaving North London, although it has often been linked to Barcelona, Real Madrid and Manchester United in recent months.
Pochettino, 48, will take charge of the club where he has played 95 matches over two memorable seasons.

Tuchel had a mixed start to the season, third at the helm at Parc des Princes, with PSG having lost four of 17 league games so far.
The current French champions are one point behind first place, with Lyon and Lille, who suffered defeats only once this year, currently at the top.
Tuchel, a former Borussia Dortmund coach, led 127 games in total for PSG, winning 95 of them. Their winning percentage is an impressive 74%.
PSG led the Champions League group ahead of RB Leipzig and Manchester United – and will face Barcelona in the next round in the round of 16.

Tuchel reached an agreement with the club to leave with immediate effect. The move cost them £ 5.4 million.
Sky Germany said sporting director Leonardo made the decision hours after watching the demolition of Strasbourg by PSG.
Massimiliano Allegri, the former Juventus coach, would have been the first choice to take – however, Le Parisiens said PSG failed to meet its salary requirements.
