Paris Hilton ‘thrilled’ by Sarah Silverman apologizes for prison joke

Paris Hilton says she cried after finding out that Sarah Silverman apologized for cruelly mocking her with a rude sex joke during an award in 2007.

“I was shocked when I read [her apology] at first and pleasantly surprised … She was so genuine and so sweet and it really moved me, ”said Hilton in an impromptu episode of her podcast“ This Is Paris ”on Friday.

“I was thrilled to hear that and I could tell that she really meant what she said when she was apologizing.”

Silverman issued his mea culpa Thursday for throwing a cheeky insult at Hilton during the 2007 MTV Movie Awards, which was the same day that the hotel’s heiress was set to surrender to prison for violation of direction.

“I heard that, to make her feel comfortable in prison, the guards are going to paint the bars to look like a penis,” said Silverman in Hilton’s day. “I just worry that she will break her teeth with these things.”

Hilton, now 40, said in her podcast earlier this week that she “literally wanted to run out of the entire room” when Silverman started interrupting her.

“But I was just trying to be strong and sit there while the whole audience was laughing,” she said.

“It was so painful, especially with what I was going through in my life, that people were so mean about it. It was very difficult. “

Upon hearing Hilton’s comments, Silverman apologized to Hilton.

“I regretted the jokes not years later, but kind of immediately,” said the 50-year-old comic in Thursday’s episode of “Sarah Silverman’s Podcast”.

Silverman said that when she saw Hilton’s reaction to the joke, her “heart sank” and she actually wrote Hilton a letter of apology.

But after hearing Hilton talk about it last week, the “School of Rock” actress realized that Hilton never received him.

“So here I am, 14 years later, telling you, Paris, that I’m really sorry,” said Silverman. “I was then and I am, much more completely and with much more understanding, I think, now.” She added that the comedy “is not perennial” and that it should change over time.

The former “Simple Life” star then recorded another episode of her podcast, saying that she really liked Silverman’s apology and that it “means a lot” and that she even got a little teary-eyed.

“I’m glad her comedy has grown and she realizes that it’s not cool to make fun of people,” she said.

Hilton surrendered to prison shortly after the awards closed. She served three days in prison before being released on an undisclosed medical condition and placed under house arrest for 40 days, according to ABC.

Silverman was also criticized earlier this year for jokes she made about Britney Spears during the same appearance on the 2007 MTV Awards.

“Did you see Britney’s children? These are the most adorable mistakes you’ll see, ”said Silverman during the brutal roasting, adding that at the age of 25 the singer“ had already accomplished everything she will do in her life ”

Silverman responded to critics of the resurgent joke saying that he would like to be able to delete it, but did not apologize to the pop star of “Womanizer”.
