There is no shortage of information about the upcoming OnePlus 9 and 9 Pro, but the reliable Chinese digital chat station with data leak came up with a few more details to put some meat on the bone.
Posting on the Chinese social networking site Weibo, the informant confirmed some details already commented, in addition to providing some more details.
The OnePlus 9, he writes, will have a 6.55-inch FHD + flat panel, while the OnePlus 9 Plus will be curved and stretched to 6.78 inches with a QHD + resolution. Both will support 120 Hz refresh rates for smooth scrolling and 120 fps gameplay, and both will include a pinhole camera in the upper left corner of the screen measuring 3.8 mm in diameter.
As expected, both will be powered by the new Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 processor and, apparently, a 4,500 mAh battery “is enough”. In terms of dimensions, the tipper says that both will be between 8 and 8.5 mm thick and will weigh “at most 200g”.
Among the 800 comments that the leak attracted on Weibo, Digital Chat Station answered a few more questions. Like rumors elsewhere, the phones apparently will support 65 W charging and, when asked about possible prices, he replied that “it should be almost the same”.
For reference, at launch, the OnePlus 8 was sold for $ 699, with the OnePlus 8 Pro starting at $ 899. And while that is still much more expensive than the price of previous OnePlus models (there was a price increase of $ 310 between the 2016 OnePlus 3T and last year’s 8T), it would still be quite competitive when compared to Samsung’s 2021 flagships, which range from $ 799 for the basic 128 GB Galaxy S21 to $ 1,199 for the S21 Ultra.
And elsewhere, the OnePlus 9’s specs look very promising. Along with the state of the art Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 mentioned above, phones can feature a triple array of cameras with a 50MP main lens, a 20MP wide-angle snapper and a 12MP telephoto number.
Still, for those on a tighter budget, it is rumored that the company is taking a leaf from Samsung’s book with a slightly cheaper device using last year’s processor. Like the Samsung Galaxy S20 FE, the OnePlus 9 Lite will reportedly use the Snapdragon 865 chipset from last year – which is a really good reward for those who don’t need the latest and greatest. After all, the Snapdragon 865 is still a very capable chipset and, assuming the OnePlus 9 Lite doesn’t make many cuts elsewhere, it may be worth considering – assuming it will be available outside of China and India.
