Olivia Rodrigo’s debut single, “Driver’s License”, was released just three days ago – and is already at the top of the streaming charts.
This weekend, the emotional ballad hit number one on the American Spotify chart, the Apple Music chart and the Amazon Music chart chart. He also topped the iTunes chart, and his accompanying music video has garnered over 11 million views. On Monday, “Driver’s License” reached first place on the global top 50 chart on Spotify.
It is not for nothing that the song played a chord with the fans – “Driver’s License” shows Rodrigo, 17, talking about a devastating disgust, getting out of control of the fact that she finally got her driver’s license and now she can drive to your ex home. The lyrics of the song are identifiable and vulnerable, combined with Rodrigo’s mature and masterful belt and the production of Conan Gray and Lewis Capaldi’s collaborator Dan Nigro, makes it a must for any pop enthusiast.

Although the world took a peek at Rodrigo’s songwriting skills and vocal talent through his role as Nini in Disney Plus’ “High School Musical: The Musical: The Series” – especially with the golden success of the “All” soundtrack I Want ”-“ Driver’s license ”shows a real pop star in training. And, Rodrigo already has a co-sign from none other than Taylor Swift, which Rodrigo counts as one of his greatest inspirations. On the song’s release date, January 8, Rodrigo posted his reaction on Instagram when he saw that “Driver’s license” was already on Swift’s “Evermore” bonus tracks on the iTunes chart.
“Next to Taylor on the US iTunes chart, I’m in a puddle of tears,” wrote Rodrigo, to which Swift commented, “I say this is my baby and I’m very proud.”
