Olivia Rodrigo’s driver’s license is a passing success

In the first three days of availability – Friday, 8th to Sunday, 10th – the song sold 16,000 copies and was broadcast 21 million times in the United States, according to preliminary data from MRC Data. For comparison, there are already more streams in three days than “Mood”, the number 1 reigning in Advertising panelThe Streaming Songs list for the previous week (17.5 million streams). It is also almost 73% of the way to the total sales posted by Justin Bieber’s “Anyone” that week (22,000), the most popular song on the Advertising paneldigital music sales chart.

And streaming numbers are still rising. “Driver’s license” rose 122% on broadcasts from Friday to Saturday, and another 32% from Saturday to Sunday, when fan excitement began to spread to the endorsement of contemporary pop stars. Music also doesn’t seem to have waned since the weekend – it’s currently number 1 on the US daily charts for both Apple Music and Spotify, with its new record of almost 5.7 million daily plays on the last service , exceeding the total number of the second to seventh most played songs combined, according to their daily listed counts.

“Driver’s license” (which Interscope Records will also start promoting for pop radio next week) is already set to make a big impact on the Hot 100 next week. How important? Check again with Advertising panel next Tuesday, to see where on the chart it finally falls.
