The women’s basketball team Ole Miss faces No. 5 South Carolina at noon today at The Pavilion.
It is a makeup of the opening of the SEC, which was postponed from its original date of December 31 because of the complications of COVID-19 with the rebels.
South Carolina ranked first at the time.
The game will be the third classified opponent for Ole Miss to face in a week. The Rebels (9-9, 3-9 SEC) are coming out of a 10 point loss to No. 18 in Arkansas and 11 points at home against then No. 5 Texas A&M.
Ole Miss will close the regular season on Sunday at No. 15 Kentucky.
The consecutive victories against Kentucky and Alabama have put the rebels into the bubble of the NCAA tournament, according to “bracketologists” who follow the March Madness speculation.
Center Shakira Austin, the Maryland transfer, leads Ole Miss with 17.4 points and 8.2 rebounds per game.
South Carolina (18-3, 13-1 SEC) is the SEC’s No. 2 in scoring in attack and scoring defense and leads the league with an average score margin of over-19.3.
