North Las Vegas Mayor leaves Dems to join Republican Party, says he ‘does not support’ socialists

After being elected as a Democrat, North Las Vegas Mayor John Lee said on Fox & Friends Tuesday that he was moving to the Republican Party. Lee argued that the Democrats’ “elitist” and “socialist” agenda is not the one with which he “can continue”.

MAYOR JOHN LEE: They recently had an election for the leadership, and four of the five people were card-carrying members of the Socialist Party. It is not the party that I grew up with 25 years ago in this environment, and it is not the party that I endure the most …

The working class, that is, working men and women in this country, and also small businessmen are no longer part of the conversation. Everything has to do with the elitists and the socialists. That is not the agenda I have in mind for this country of the future …

When you are a pro-life Democrat, a pro-weapons Democrat, and you are a very conservative person, that is no longer known in the Democratic Party. And then for me to endure the time it took, hoping that the party would change, it didn’t change, it got worse. So I found a new place where I can put my loyalty and help. Again, forget about the last eight years. It is the next four years that predict the future.
