GREENVILLE, SC – Andrew Eyster’s one-two finish in the 11th inning led South Carolina’s No. 16 to a 3-2 victory over No. 22 Clemson at Fluor Field on Saturday afternoon. Gamecocks, who had a 1-0 lead in the series of the season, improved to 5-0, while Tigers dropped to 3-1. South Carolina also beat Clemson’s 11-game winning streak at Fluor Field.

After James Parker, who previously extended his streak to 11 games, hit a single consecutive score at the top of the fourth inning to tie the score, then Jeff Heinrich lined up a single consecutive score at the end of the fourth inning. In the ninth inning, Parker started with a home run, the second of the season, on a 0-2 pitch to tie the score 2-2.

The Tigers placed two runners at the base without eliminating at the top of the 11th inning, but a double move thwarted the threat. Then, at the end of the 11th entry, Brady Allen left with a double. After a strikeout and an intentional walk, Eyster plucked a 1-2 shot out and over the top of a Bryce Teodosio bounce in the center right to mark Allen for the qualifying race.

Will Sanders (1-0) won the victory by throwing 1.0 goalless and unsuccessful entries. Geoffrey Gilbert (0-1) suffered defeat. Davis Sharpe, Mack Anglin, Rasesh Pandya and Gilbert combined 21 eliminations against just three hits in 10.1 entries launched for the Tigers, who saw their ten-game winning streak come to an end.

The series continues on Sunday at Founders Park in Columbia at 1:30 pm on SECN +.
