Nicole Kidman talks about the Lucille Ball cast, says she will ‘try’ her ‘best’: ‘See if I can’

Nicole Kidman broke the silence about her next role as Lucille Ball in “Being the Ricardos”.

Kidman, 53, opened Variety on Wednesday to talk about playing Ball alongside Javier Bardem, 51 – who must play Ricky Ricardo – in the biopic directed by Aaron Sorkin.

“I was like, ‘Yes, I would love to take a chance,'” Kidman said in the interview. “With the words of Aaron and his direction and Javier … what a wonderful perspective, you know. But damn it, come on. Try it. Try my best – see if I can.”

Kidman also noted that she has done a lot of research before diving into Ball’s vast world.

“I love Lucille, having looked now and immersed myself in it,” said Kidman as he reflected on watching “I Love Lucy” again. “She is an amazing woman. I am very excited for people to see what Aaron found out about her and the way he played Desi [Arnaz] and Lucy and the way you are so rich. I didn’t know any of that. “

Ball and Arnaz’s daughter Lucie recently made headlines for defending Kidman’s choice as his world-famous mother.

“There seems to be a lot of discussion about ‘Nicole Kidman, it should be Debra Messing, it should be Carole Cook’, I don’t know,” she started. “Here’s the thing, which you should understand: we are not doing a remake of ‘I Love Lucy’. Nobody needs to impersonate Lucy Ricardo, nor do the Vitameatavegamin routine or … any of the silly things. “
