He said: ‘I know how you could have considered many of the things I said as hate and propaganda, but that was never my heart and intentions.
‘I was talking about how amazing black people are, but it hurt a lot of people who were not part of that community while I was trying to encourage and uplift my own community.’

He said in part of a long statement on social media: ‘First, I extend my deepest and most sincere apologies to my Jewish sisters and brothers for the painful and divisive words that came out of my mouth during my interview with Richard Griffin.
‘They reinforced the worst stereotypes of a proud and magnificent people and I am ashamed of the uninformed and naive place where those words came from. The video for this interview has already been removed.
