Newly released video of the Capitol siege shows protesters confronting the police, searching Senate desks

The New Yorker on Sunday released new footage from inside the United States Capitol by a reporter who followed the protesters through the building to the Senate chambers.

One of the first scenes in the video filmed by reporter Luke Mogelson shows the crowd marching through the building and shouting “betrayal” and “defend your constitution, defend your freedom”.

“You are outnumbered,” said a man to an officer trying to block the crowd. The man adds, “We are listening to Trump, your boss.”

Another man in the video can be heard shouting, “Where the hell are they”, while looking at the Senate chambers.

“There was hardly enough law enforcement to keep the crowd out, who shot the police with cans and bottles,” wrote Mogelson in his detailed account of the Capitol violation.

Another part of the video shows a man in a white shirt rummaging through a binder on a Senate table, saying, “There must be something here that we can use f — ing against these scoundrels.”

Mogelson took several photos of Jacob Anthony Chansley, the “QAnon Shaman”, who walked around the Capitol with no shirt on and wearing a horned hat. Chansley has since surrendered to the authorities and asked President Trump for forgiveness.

Another scene captured by Mogelson showed the rioters destroying media equipment. A man shouts, “Start making a list, write down all the names and we start hunting them down one by one.”

Another man responds by shouting, “Traitor to the guillotine!”

Since the rape, dozens of people have been arrested across the country. Most were accused of illegally entering a restricted area. The FBI is currently gathering tips and information to help track down those who participated in the riot.
