New Year’s Eve 2021: How to watch a ball launch live in New York’s Times Square, online or on TV

You won’t see millions of people huddled in Times Square tonight – thanks to the coronavirus – but, as they say, the show must go on.

The new year 2021 will arrive with a ball launch in New York’s Times Square, the first since 1907 without the audience present. Instead of cheering crowds and confetti, the fall of the giant glowing orb and the big countdown will be broadcast live online and on TV.

The Times Square Alliance and Countdown Entertainment are teaming up for a non-commercial webcast and a ball pool feed from the launch of the ball. The main attraction of the event will be the singer Andra Day, who will present her single “Rise Up”.

There will also be live performances by Gloria Gaynor, Pitbull, Anitta, Jennifer Lopez, Billy Porter, Cyndi Lauper, Jimmie Allen, Machine Gun Kelly, The Waffle Crew and USO Show Troupe. The presenter is Jonathan Bennett from “Mean Girls” and the movie Hallmark Holiday “The Christmas House”.

The events will begin with Ball Raising at 6:00 pm EST (5:00 pm CST) on December 30, 2020 and will end at 12:15 pm EST (11:15 pm CST) on January 1, 2021. The show will be broadcast live on several sites, including TimesSquareNYC.org , NewYearsEve.nyc, Livestream.com/2021 and TimesSquareBall.net.

The launch of the ball will also be broadcast on CNN, Fox, NBC, TBS and many other networks. You can also watch it on Fubo or Hulu.
