Most games in the Pokémon mainline franchise have received a “third version” over the years, adding content that was not in the original release. For Pokémon Sword and Shield, The Pokémon Company chose to launch an expansion DLC, so that players who already liked the game could continue their adventure with their current team. Armor Island and The Crown Tundra have been available for some time, but in the absence of a new Pokémon game this year, it makes sense to see Nintendo still promoting the release!

The next year will mark the 25th anniversary of Red and green Pokémonwas released in 1996. It stands to reason that games like New Pokémon Snap and the continuation of Nintendo Switch for Detective Pikachu both could launch next year. It is also possible that the next generation of Pokémon games could see the launch as well. If that’s the case, fans can expect to see a full reveal in the coming months. For now, though, fans will simply have to take advantage of the content that is currently available!
