The new footage, released on the second day of Trump’s Senate trial, takes advantage of Capitol security cameras positioned around the complex, depicting the violent intentions of the crowd and the heroism of several Capitol Police officers, including Eugene Goodman, who dodged the crowd away from senators on the floor of the chamber.

The new footage aims to emphasize the Democrats’ argument that the former president intentionally incited his supporters with allegations of a stolen election and then encouraged them to march on Capitol Hill to block the vote that certifies his opponent’s victory. The video shows a group of violent Trump supporters dominating the Capitol Police and attacking a barricade mounted on the Capitol’s West Front. In unpublished audio of internal dispatches from the Capitol Police, officers can be heard frantically warning of violations and calling for reinforcements.

“They are throwing metal poles at us,” shouts an officer.

At 1:49 pm, the violation was formally declared a riot.

Some of the new footage was taken from the dozens of Capitol security cameras that are positioned inside the Capitol building and connected to the House and Senate office buildings, as well as around the Capitol gardens.

Until now, the video of these security cameras had not been shown to the public. The FBI took possession of most of these videos as part of its ongoing investigation into the January 6 attack.

Some of the rioters who invaded the Capitol indicated that they planned to assassinate Pence for refusing to block Biden’s certification of victory, as Trump asked him to do.

But the Secret Service did not remove Pence from a room connected to the Senate chamber until 2:26 pm, 37 minutes after the initial violation, according to new security footage shown by prosecutors.

The clear timeline reveals how close it was to Pence.

The cameras captured protesters arriving in that corridor seven minutes later, and one of them knocking on the outside door, breaking it open. The inner door has never been tampered with.

Impeachment managers played the audio of a phone call from one of Pelosi’s aides, seeking help from the Capitol Police.

“They are knocking on doors trying to find you,” the aide is heard whispering on the phone.

Pelosi herself, second in line to the presidency, was escorted out of the Chamber’s plenary and evacuated from the Capitol complex to an undisclosed location, off-site, due to the seriousness of the threat against her.

After spending the first three and a half hours of the second day paying varying levels of attention, Republican senators were fascinated by the new security footage of Pence being evacuated from his Senate office.

Democratic and Republican lawmakers watched closely as managers displayed images showing Pelosi’s (D-Calif.) Team barricading an office minutes before a group of protesters walked down the hall.
