New color-coded map of New Mexico puts Santa Fe in the green | Local News

Santa Fe County upgraded on Wednesday to the green category of state Department of Health color-coded coronavirus designations.

Over a two-week period, Santa Fe County averaged 5.9 cases per 100,000 people and exhibited a low rate of positive coronavirus tests – 1.4 percent.

The county’s “green” designation not only reflects a decline in the prevalence of the disease here, but also opens the county up for slightly less stringent state rules. For example, under the county’s previous yellow designation, essential retail locations could have 33% of the customer’s capacity, while under green they could have 50%.

For restaurants, the yellow designation allowed 33% for indoor meals, if the place was certified as safe by the state. With the green label, restaurants can have 50% of their capacity for internal cafeterias.
