Good neeeeeews! Universal’s long-awaited Broadway blockbuster film adaptation Wicked finally found a director. According to the deadline, sources say that John M. Chu will direct the musical film (it is still being produced by Ben Platt’s father). Chu has experience adapting musicals to the big screen with his late 2021 film by Lin-Manuel Miranda On the heights, and Crazy Rich Asians definitely has some sparkle like Oz’s. Chu recently left the Disney + series Willow tree “Due to problems with COVID-19 that continued to push production”, according to the Deadline, thus, releasing your schedule to work Wicked. The adaptation of Stephen Schwartz’s musical suffered several delays and, last fall, director Stephen Daldry left the project. Thank God Chu is on board. We couldn’t be happier.
