Mitch McConnell would ‘absolutely’ support the 2024 Trump GOP ticket

Senate minority leader Mitch McConnell says he would “absolutely” support former President Donald Trump if he won the Republican party nomination in 2024.

McConnell went to Fox News’ “Special Report with Bret Baier” on Thursday night and hinted that some Republicans are already considering running for commander in chief.

“I have at least four members that I think are planning to run for president, in addition to some governors and others. There is no holder. It must be an open race, ”McConnell said host Bret Baier.

Baier then asked McConnell if he would support Trump if he won the party’s nomination for the next presidential election.

“The party nominee? For sure, ”replied the Kentucky Republican.

After stepping down, Trump suffered a second impeachment after House Democrats accused him of inciting the Capitol insurrection on January 6, but the Senate was unable to condemn him.

The former president has since said he planned to remain active in the Republican Party, including the 2022 midterm elections.

Utah Senator Mitt Romney – who has been an avid critic of Trump – told the New York Times recently that if Trump plans to run in 2024, he believes he will be the party’s candidate.
