Miley Cyrus shares tribute to her dog “Mary Jane 5EVR”: Listen

Miley Cyrus shared a song called “Mary Jane 5EVR” on her Instagram page. The track, which leaked a few weeks ago in an unfinished form, was written a few years ago in Malibu, in his home that was destroyed by a fire in Woolsey. (Cyrus said recently that he abandoned a planned EP trilogy after the computers they were on were lost in the fire.) It is a tribute to his dog Mary Jane and was produced by Mike Will Made-It, Andrew Wyatt and Emile Haynie. Here’s what Cyrus said about the song on Instagram:

I wrote this song in Malibu years ago on a piano in a house that no longer exists. About my dog Mary Jane, who is also gone now.

A lot has changed over time. Mainly me.

Music is my medicine. This song revolves around loss and suffering. Which I am currently experiencing after Mary Jane’s death.

MJ was a true queen. She used her grace, dignity and goodness as a crown. It will never be forgotten and will be missed forever. To know her is to love her. It was an honor to be your mother and best friend.

This is not the first song that Cyrus wrote about a dead pet. Your 2015 album with Flaming Lips, Miley Cyrus and Her Dead Petz, includes a song called “Pablow The Blowfish” about your pet fish.
