Last year, Miley Cyrus joked that she was working on a Metallica cover album and now the pop star has provided a few more details, including some A-list collaborators who will help with her cover of “Nothing Else Matters”.
While speaking on the UK’s Capital Breakfast radio show with Roman Kemp, Cyrus revealed, “I did a Metallica cover of ‘Nothing Else Matters’ with Elton John on the piano. I have Yo-Yo Ma, Chad Smith, just so many all-stars. “
She continued, “I’m really excited about this collaboration. Andrew Watt produced it and I’m very happy. I mean, having Elton John, Metallica and me, I love it when the ingredients don’t fit perfectly.”
Now it looks like Cyrus is a contributor to a larger collection of Metallica covers coming up. The singer knows the song well, who had already played on the epic track live during her 2019 set at the Glastonbury Festival.
Although she was successful in the pop and country world, Cyrus showed the ability to handle rock material as well. In 2020, she covered The Cure and Cranberries during her performance at the #SaveOurStages festival. She also covered Hole’s “Doll Parts” during an appearance on Howard Stern’s radio show and released a new album Plastic hearts in late 2020, which included more rock material that included appearances by rock icons Joan Jett and Billy Idol.
One of the producers of Plastic hearts it was Andrew Watt, who is also producing his Metallica cover. Watt also won wide acclaim in early 2020 for his production work at Ozzy Osbourne’s Ordinary guy album, an album that included Chad Smith on drums and was featured by Elton John.
