Metallica’s Les Claypool and Robert Trujillo find gold in the short film ‘Precious Metals’

Les Claypool joined Metallica bassist Robert Trujillo to Precious metals, short film directed by Claypool’s son, Cage.

Filmed on Claypool’s northern California estate, the clip shows Claypool in western attire, using a metal detector to search for gold. He is ecstatic to find two gold coins, but his smile disappears when he finds Trujillo with a gun – who shoots Claypool’s hat off him. The two bass players prepare for a quick draw, but burst out laughing when Trujillo reveals that he already has gold of his own: metal labeled EMG Pickups (the film’s sponsor).

“As a veteran music video director and aspiring filmmaker, I feel bloated pride to see my son Cage dive into the world of cinematography and excel in it,” Claypool said in a statement. “He surprises me with his skill set, perspective, work ethic and ease of collaboration. This is my boy !! “

Primus rescheduled his Rush tribute tour, A Tribute to Kings, for the third time, with the goal of hitting the road this summer. They aired the virtual show Alive From Pachyderm Station last December, performing at the Claypool winery for the first time.
