Meghan McCain triggers media reaction at Biden press conference

“The View” co-host Meghan McCain criticized the media on Friday about covering President Biden’s first formal press conference.

McCain started on Friday by revealing that he “loves” Biden as a person, but expressed that “our role as the fourth power” is “to tell the president and the press what is going on”.

“I just want to present a scenario where President Trump was somehow re-elected. And in the first 60 days of his re-election. he did not give a press conference. When he finally gave a press conference, he did not speak or answer a question about the pandemic and he did not answer any question from any media that did not agree with him, ”explained McCain. “Peter Doocy was not called, Fox News was not called, which I think was a major fault for President Biden yesterday.”

“Also, in the news cycle, if President Trump had taken down Air Force One or if his son was involved in some very serious reports involving the Secret Service and a weapon … I think we would have a very different Topic today,” continued McCain. “And I think it is up to us and the press not to be deleterious in the way we cover President Biden.”

The conservative co-host went on to say that just because Trump was “horrible” for the press “does not mean that we should give passes to Biden.”

“We are still in a pandemic, there are still a lot of crises, and I don’t think he answered enough questions that I, for example, would like to see him respond and I think the coverage has been really disconcerting,” said McCain. “I was watching a few shows this morning – there is no need to drool on Joe Biden right now. He is still the president of the United States. And I think our role in the fourth state is to keep your feet on the fire and ask serious questions and ‘give him time, let him be president’, yes, but we didn’t give that [leeway] to President Obama or President Trump ”.

Much of the mainstream media flooded Biden with praise. Washington Post columnist Jennifer Rubin said the president “stood out” during the press conference and NBC News reporter Jonathan Allen said Biden was “getting it off the ground” before acknowledging later that the president looked “tired” and started to “disappear” in his responses.

Even Drudge Report founder Matt Drudge touted Biden’s performance on his website with headlines like “JOE’S NO DRAMA PRESS CONFERENCE” and “CHILL STYLE”.
