Meghan Markle and Prince Harry expecting their second child

Soon, baby Archie will be an older brother. Meghan and Harry are expecting their second child, a spokesman for the Duke and Duchess of Sussex confirmed to CBS News on Sunday.

The couple is “very happy to be expecting their second child,” added the spokesman.

Buckingham Palace said in a statement to CBS News that Queen Elizabeth, Prince Charles and the whole family are “delighted” with the news of the new baby.

The photographer and friend, Misan Harriman, took a sweet image of the pair remotely, which appears to show a pregnant Meghan, and shared Sunday on social media. The black and white image shows the couple sitting on the grass under a tree.

“Meg, I was there at your wedding to witness the beginning of this love story, and my friend, I am honored to capture it growing up,” wrote Harriman. “Congratulations to the Duke and Duchess of Sussex for this good news!”

The news comes a few months after Meghan revealed that she suffered a miscarriage in July 2020. In an article for The New York Times, she detailed the deep sadness and loss that she and Harry experienced

At work, she wrote that she felt a strong cramp and fell to the floor shortly after changing Archie’s diaper. “I knew, as I grabbed my first child, that I was losing my second child,” she said.

Describing the “unbearable pain” of aborting a child, Meghan wrote that it was a topic that remained “taboo, riddled with shame (unjustified) and perpetuating a cycle of lonely mourning”.

The couple married in 2018 and had little Archie in may the following year.

The couple announced that they were slow down of his real “senior” roles in early 2020, a decision that shocked the British establishment. The change came after reports that Meghan was very unhappy with life within the royal family and tired of the constant media intrusion. Since then, the duo moved to the United States and now live in california.

Although they may no longer be working as royalty, the couple certainly stayed busy. They finished a multiannual agreement with Spotify in December to host and produce “edifying” audio projects and podcasts. They also signed a contract with Netflix to create children’s shows, documentaries, films and scripted shows.
