Mandalorian star reveals how he learned Baby Yoda’s real name

Pedro Pascal, who plays Din Djarin in The Mandalorian, knew that The Child’s real name was Grogu before they started recording the second season.

The MandalorianPedro Pascal recently revealed that he knows that the Boy’s real name was Grogu much longer than Star Wars fans.

“I knew,” said Pascal. “At the beginning of the second season. I mean, when I received the scripts for the second season,” said the actor ET in a recent press interview for Wonder Woman 1984.

He added, “And, um, my favorite thing about this is as part of the creative process [is that] I am at least invited to at least observe the experience and contribute to whatever happens to me. And then, Jon Favreau and Dave Filoni, they gave me the scripts before we started shooting. So, I know everything, baby! “

Pascal also revealed in the interview that he “has no idea” how many more seasons of The Mandalorian airs on Disney +, noting: “Because quality will always outnumber quantities.” He continued, “So, as long as you’re in this incredible pattern, that is, it’s more of a question than anything else. Do you know what I mean?”

The Child’s real name – also known as Baby Yoda – was revealed in the Season 2 episode entitled “Chapter 13: The Jedi”. In the episode, bounty hunter Din Djarin (Pascal) traveled to the city of Calodan, on the forest planet of Corvus, to return The Child to his people.

During the trip, ex-Jedi Ahsoka Tano used The Force to access the Child’s memories and discovered his real name. It was revealed that Grogu was raised by masters at the Jedi Temple, but was so traumatized by his abduction that he was hiding his abilities from the Force.

Created by Jon Favreau, The Mandalorian stars Pedro Pascal, Gina Carano, Carl Weathers and Giancarlo Esposito. Seasons 1 and 2 are now streaming on Disney +. While the 3rd season of Mandalorian expected to arrive in December 2021, the series spawned a series of upcoming spin-offs in the form of Ahsoka, New Republic Rangers and Boba Fett’s Book, the last of which is scheduled to arrive in December 2021.

Pascal also stars as Maxwell Lord in Wonder Woman 1984. Directed and co-written by Patty Jenkins, the film also stars Gal Gadot, Chris Pine, Kristen Wiig and Natasha Rothwell. Wonder Woman 1984 is currently in theaters and on HBO Max.
