Man suspected of making threats to blow up government buildings in Colorado Springs

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colorado (KKTV) – A man suspected of threatening to blow up government buildings was arrested Thursday in Colorado Springs.

Police shared details of the case against Shawn Wallace in an online blotter. According to the police, Wallace was on his way to the Gold Hill Police substation, west of I-25 and south of Highway 24 at 3 pm. Wallace had an obscene Virginia warrant and the police also said he threatened to bring explosives into his truck.

Metro VNI and FBI JTTF Colorado Springs members notified Colorado Springs police that the suspect was heading toward the Gold Hill substation. Gold Hill Patrol has installed surveillance in the area. The units noticed the suspect driving towards the substation and made a “high risk stop”. Wallace was then taken into custody just off the street that leads to the substation parking lot.

Authorities searched the suspect vehicle and no explosives were found.

Shawn Wallace was charged at El Paso County Prison. It is not clear whether he will face any additional charges beyond that for which he was wanted in Virginia.
