LVMH Suspend Fenty Fashion Line for Rihanna and Louis Vuitton owners

In January 2019, Rihanna struck a deal with French fashion conglomerate LVMH – home to Louis Vuitton, Dior, Givenchy, Marc Jacobs and other luxury brands – which led to the establishment of Fenty as a new fashion line. Now, LVMH and Rihanna have agreed to suspend the fashion line, choosing to focus on supporting the rest of the “Fenty ecosystem”, including cosmetics, skin care and lingerie. Simultaneously with the announcement, it was revealed that Savage X Fenty has completed a $ 115 million fundraising round for its “future retail expansion”.

When contacted by Pitchfork, LVMH issued the following statement:

Following the completion of a fundraising round where L Catterton acquired a stake in Savage X Fenty, LVMH and Rihanna reaffirm their ambition to focus on the growth and long-term development of the Fenty ecosystem with a focus on cosmetics, skin care and lingerie.

Meanwhile, Rihanna and LVMH made the joint decision to suspend RTW [ready-to-wear] based in Europe, depending on better conditions.

The most recent Savage X Fenty fashion show debuted on Amazon Prime last fall, featuring Travis Scott, Rosalía, Bad Bunny and others. Rihanna’s last studio album ANTI was launched in 2016.
