Mira Furlan, famous for her roles in “Lost” and “Babylon 5”, died Wednesday at the age of 65.
His manager Chris Roe confirmed in a statement to USA TODAY Furlan died “after complications from the West Nile virus.”
“It is with great sadness that I confirm the death of Mira Furlan,” he wrote. “She was a woman full of kindness, strength and compassion. … She died peacefully at her home in Los Angeles, surrounded by her family. We will all continue to celebrate her life and legacy, and to know that she will always be here with us. “
Furlan’s talent agent, Steven Neibert, remembers her as a “compassionate and generous person”.
“Not only was she so talented, she was also practical and real, which is not always the norm in our business. The Imperium 7 Talent Agency family will miss her very much and our thoughts and prayers are with her family,” wrote Neibert in an email.
The creator of “Babylon 5”, J. Michael Straczynski, accessed Twitter to share a long tribute On thursday.
“We have known for some time that Mira’s health is getting worse … I’m not sure if this is the right time or place to discuss the sheer randomness of what happened … and we all fear this day. We expected her to get better, “wrote Straczynski.
“Mira was a nice and kind woman, an incredibly talented performer and a friend of everyone in the Babylon 5 cast and crew, and we are all devastated by the news. The cast members she was especially close to since the end of show will need space to process this moment, so please be kind if they don’t respond for a while. We’ve come this way too often, and it just gets harder

Born in the former Yugoslavia, Furlan emigrated to the United States in 1991. She starred as Ambassador Delenn in “Babylon 5” in 1993 for all five seasons and landed the role of Danielle Rousseau in the ABC drama series “Lost” from 2004 to 2010.
Her other notable credits include “My Antonia” (1995) and the Oscar-nominated Yugoslav film “When Father Was Away on Business” (2000), and she starred in an episode of Season 6 of “NCIS” as Dina Risi in 2009 .
She leaves her husband, Goran Gajic, and her son, Marko.
