Logan Paul pulls 2 Charizards from the first edition of the $ 1 million opening Pokémon TCG Base Set

Content creator Logan Paul presented his own celebration stream Pokémon Day on February 27, opening 36 rare and closed packs of the first Pokémon card edition of the original Base Set.

The stream was executed in partnership with Goldin auctions for collectible items and memorabilia. Paul received bids on the packages and opened them to fans or collectors who won the lots.

Paul is considered by many to be one of the biggest catalysts for the recent increase in popularity and crop value Pokémon TCG boxes, cards and packages after opening a Base Set box in front of 300,000 simultaneous viewers in October. Each of the packages he auctioned at Goldin cost an average of $ 39,206 per package, totaling more than $ 1 million and making them some of the most expensive Pokémon TCG packages already sold.

During the break, Paul and Goldin Auctions founder Ken Goldin found two holographic Charizard cards, both of which must be classified as PSA GEM MT 10, which would have valued them at more than $ 500,000 each. A first edition of the PSA GEM MT 10 Charizard is currently on auction at Goldin for more than $ 325,000 with five days left to bid.

In total, Paul pulled 12 holographic cards from 36 open packs, including a Blastoise, Venusaur and Mewtwo. Here is a complete analysis of the holo pulled by the stream.

  • Two Charizard
  • Three Chansey
  • Two Raichu
  • An Alakazam
  • A Venusaur
  • One Blastoise
  • One Gyarados
  • One Mewtwo

Depending on how each card ends up being valued, these pulls can be valued at more than $ 1 million easily, according to the PSA’s standard price guide for the set.

THE Base Set The box Paul auctioned was one of six he documented himself buying in a recent video, where he and his team claim to have spent about $ 2 million to get the much sought after Pokémon products. And considering that boxes of the first edition like this can cost more than $ 400,000 depending on their condition and the individual packages sell for thousands, that title was probably not clickbait.

A few days after the stream, Paul’s VOD was viewed more than 3.2 million times.
