Lions to sign QB Tim Boyle

Tim Boyle is adhering to NFC Norte. NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo reports (via Twitter) that the veteran defender is signing with Lions. Tom Pelissero of NFL.com tweets which is a $ 2.5 million one-year deal, including a guaranteed $ 1.5 million.

Boyle joined the Packers as a non-hired free agent in 2018 and became a cult hero like Aaron Rodgers‘backup in recent years. The 26-year-old has seen time in 11 career games, mostly as a human victory cigar; he has 18 “loads” for -16 yards. He tried four passes in his brief career, connecting three of them for 15 yards.

The 26-year-old was set to target the restricted free agency this offseason, but the Packers decided not to offer the fan favorite. The Packers will move forward with the first round of 2020 Jordan Love as the definitive backup quarterback.

Lions were probably looking for some reinforcement in the position after releasing Chase Daniel earlier this week. Boyle will probably compete with David Blough for support representatives ago Jared Goff.
