Lin, president of the Chinese entertainment company, was hospitalized after being poisoned on December 16, Shanghai police announced earlier this week.
Lin Qi, chairman and CEO of the Yoozoo Group, who was hospitalized after being poisoned on December 16, died, local media reports say. According to the Chinese company, Lin died on Christmas Day. He was 39 years old.
On Wednesday night in China, the Shanghai Department of Public Security announced that Lin was receiving treatment after being poisoned and that a co-worker from Lin de Yoozoo, surnamed Xu, had been arrested in the middle of an investigation.
The statement said: “At 5 pm on December 17, 2020, the police received a call from a hospital about a patient with the surname Lin. During the patient’s treatment, the hospital said it determined that the patient had been poisoned. After the call, the police initiated an investigation, and according to on-the-spot investigations and other interviews, the police found that a suspect with the surname Xu, who is a co-worker of victim Lin, was the most likely perpetrator of the crime. Xu has been arrested and investigations are continuing. “
The Hollywood Reporter reported that local media said a dispute between executives at the Chinese entertainment company preceded the attack on Lin, who was allegedly carried out with a cup of poisoned pu-erh tea.
Lin has been credited as a producer on Netflix’s next high-profile series The three body problem, an adaptation of War of Thrones the creators David Benioff and DB Weiss of the best-selling Chinese science fiction books.
