Let’s give Archie Miller a contract extension!

While you can still find an occasional Purdue fan who, for some reason, doesn’t agree with Matt Painter in West Lafayette, there is one thing we unanimously agree on: we all love the work that Archie Miller did in Bloomington. It is difficult to achieve sustained excellence in a historically strong and historic program like Indiana. Still, Archie did it. Let’s look at his achievements since he arrived in Bloomington four years ago:

· First of all, he is perfect against Purdue. Sure, 0-7 looks bad from Indiana’s point of view, but it takes dedication to your craft to have an entire class that never beat the Boilers.

· Indiana made history, and that is rare for such a celebrated program. They haven’t lost nine in a row (Tom Crean gave Archie two wins to continue) to Purdue since 1929-34! Yes, this era may have been called the Great Depression, but as a Purdue fan it’s hard to be depressed when you beat Indiana constantly.

· Better yet, Purdue won five in a row at the Tommy Luce Assembly Hall for the first time. Before Luce came along, we had never won three consecutive games in that building.

· He made history with two of the biggest losses at the margin houses in the history of Assembly Hall, all in the first year, losing by 21 and 20, respectively, for the programs of the state of Indiana and the IPFW.

· There is more history, as a fifth consecutive year with no participation in the NCAA is the first time that IU has lost all the 1968-72 tournaments.

But there are reasons for hope from Hoosier’s point of view:

· He develops talent! Romeo Langford was chosen in the NBA lottery and Trayce Jackson-Davis is a terror to the ten great defenders.

· He recruits! Langford and Khristian Lander are two 5-star guys who bring a wealth of talent.

· He unified the fanbase! It is quite clear that most UI fans have the same level of satisfaction with it.

· He continues to have great influence on state recruitment, earning two five stars on state recruitment, despite a 4-9 record against state teams.

· He’s an impeccable 4-0 against Butler and Notre Dame at the Crossroads Classic!

· Indiana probably would have done the 2020 NCAA Tournament if it had happened, so, hey, you can’t say with 100% certainty that he wouldn’t have won a sixth banner last year!

· He clearly cares about the academic side of things, as he ensures that his players have extra class time without games after mid-March. He is ensuring that they become professionals in activities other than sports.

It’s safe to say that we love the guy, so it’s time for an extension of the contract! I want to make sure that Indiana basketball maintains the same level of excellence that it currently has, so I actually started a page to contribute to the extension of his contract. We will keep it for four more years!

Okay, so what was said above was very ironic and there is no way that Purdue fans can get a contract extension for him, but I had this idea as a joke for months and then I realized: it did, but I could do something for the well with that? Allies is a local Indiana advocacy group that I strongly believe in. Allies’ mission is to empower survivors of trafficking and sexual exploitation through awareness, prevention education and connection. For more information about your organization, visit https://www.allies-inc.org/. In my opinion, sex trafficking is one of the most despicable acts that human beings can do to other human beings. But we can do something.

Regardless of what you really think about Archie Miller, we can take that idea from this little blog and do something good. After all, what are college sports without a great deal of bitterness, especially when directed at a rival? See how the Allies are making a difference:

· $ 2,000 + – Help expand our mentoring program in Indiana, where surviving mentors are needed.

· $ 1,000 – Form a mentor and pupil pair for 1 year, providing an example of a consistent and healthy relationship.

$ 500 – Support a girl in our professional training program by equipping her with tools for a positive future.

$ 250 – Send a girl through My Life My Choice, providing her with the resources to reduce the risk of exploitation.

· $ 100 – Provides a fun group meeting for dozens of girls, allowing them to laugh, create and play.

· $ 50 – Ensure that local communities receive awareness education, enabling them to engage in anti-trafficking efforts.

A big boost behind this idea comes from the EDSBS Charity Bowl, which was started by a similar group of crazy college football fans. Last year, they raised more than $ 300,000 for New American Pathways in Atlanta. While getting this right is a deeply humbling experience, I know that Purdue and Indiana fans can show off, because you’ve all had a part of this before. Purdue fans finished 27º in its comprehensive list of donations in August with $ 4,347.55 for the EDSBS Charity Bowl. Indiana fans were 34º with $ 3,576.45, proving that we own them in charitable donations, as well as on the basketball court.

Anything given is, of course, appreciated. If that idea reaches $ 1000, I will be humble. We can have fun with that, however. A common donation at the EDSBS Charity Bowl on behalf of a school also has some significance for its main rivals. Since the Charity Bowl is centered on college football, some donated $ 74.42 to Purdue, marking Purdue’s 74 wins in the all-time football series with a paltry 42 UI. If you want to keep it related to basketball, you can donate $ 1,841, $ 184,10 or even $ 18.41, a dollar, penny or cent since Indiana last beat Purdue in men’s basketball.

I am also encouraging Indiana fans to participate as well. We may hate you in basketball, but you can also show it when it comes to doing good. How about $ 44.41 for the last Bucket game? How about a direct $ 50 for “Banners”? Instead of thinking of it as an extension of the contract, express your frustration by donating what you see to an acquisition to get rid of Archie.

I’ll even prepare the bomb. Today I’ll be donating $ 124.89, honoring Purdue’s 124 wins in the all-time series at Indiana’s 89.

We can have fun with that. Let’s see what can happen. People can use this link, igfn.us/e/Xrjhwg or send an “ExtendArchie” text message to 41444 to make a donation in favor of Purdue. You can send a text message “LetHimGo” to 41444 in favor of Indiana. Make sure to write down which school you are supporting as well and we can see if we need to extend Archie (for Purdue) or Fire Archie (for Indiana). Allies is even giving a $ 50 Fanatics gift card to a random person who donated to the school with the most donations.

Let’s make a difference in the name of Archie’s excellence / struggles.
