Leaked Sonos Roam speaker, arriving in April for $ 169

A new Sonos portable speaker, Sonos Roam, has just leaked online. It will measure 6.5 x 2.5 x 2.5 inches, which is smaller than the company’s first portable speaker, Sonos Move, and similar to other speakers on the market, such as UE Boom and JBL Xtreme.

Sonos Roam’s image and features were leaked through Border. The portable speaker should cost $ 169 and will come with a USB charging cable. Roam can also be charged with a wireless charging dock, sold separately for $ 49.

Available in black or white, Sonos Roam will be able to play audio over Wi-Fi and Bluetooth anywhere. The estimated battery life is about 10 hours on a full charge and is fully waterproof.

Sono confirmed that he will announce a new product on March 9th. According to the Border, current plans foresee that Roam will be launched a month later, on April 20.

While Sonos Move had loud and complete sounds and integrated with AirPlay 2 and Siri, the portable speaker was criticized for being too big and heavy to travel, and the 10-hour battery was not enough. It is not clear, however, whether the new Sonos Roam will have integration with AirPlay 2.

At $ 169, the Sonos Roam price is between HomePod and HomePod mini. Although the HomePod needs to be connected to power at all times, we will have to wait and see if Roam behaves like the Move speaker, connecting to other Sonos speakers for audio throughout the house or taking a different approach.

With a smaller format and a lower price, Sonos Roam could be what the company was missing the first time, but we will have to wait and see for sure.
