Leaked Huawei P50 Pro surrenders show crazy camera

Huawei P50 Pro leaking renderings 3

  • The first set of high-quality renderings of the Huawei P50 Pro was leaked today, via frequent source @OnLeaks.
  • The renderings show a very original egg-shaped camera protrusion that houses two huge disks.
  • The P50 Pro also appears to have an IR blaster.

While Huawei still faces tough times thanks to Huawei’s ban, that doesn’t mean the company is out of the game. We still expect the manufacturer to launch the P50 series sometime in 2021. Today, we took a good look at one of the premium models in that line.

Below, you can see the leaking of CAD-based renderings from the Huawei P50 Pro. These images are courtesy of Steve Hemmerstoffer, also known as @OnLeaks. It is a very reliable source of renderings like these, so they are likely to give an accurate representation of what this phone might look like.

The most interesting thing about the renderings is the protrusion of the rear camera. It’s … umm … quite unique. Check out the images below to see for yourself.

One of the most prominent rumors we’ve heard is that the P50 Pro may feature a 1-inch camera sensor. If true, this would be the largest sensor ever on an Android phone. It is possible that this strange protrusion of the egg-shaped camera has something to do with that sensor.

Hemmerstoffer postulates that there may be several lenses housed within each black disk that occupies the egg-shaped protuberance. This is entirely possible. Unfortunately, renderings like these can’t give us much information about the guts of the device, just the outside.

However, we can see that the Huawei P50 Pro appears to have an IR blaster on the top, just like the P40 series. This is interesting, since most major phones abandoned the IR blaster feature years ago, but Huawei refuses to let it go. Unfortunately, Huawei does not appear to be bringing back the 3.5mm port, another feature that has disappeared over time.

Of course, it is certain that this phone will be launched without access to Google applications, including the Google Play Store. There are rumors that it could be released with Harmony OS, Huawei’s Android alternative (which appears to be only Android 10).
