DBrand, known mainly for its covers and covers for mobile devices, launched its own version of matte black side plates for the PlayStation 5, going so far as to challenge Sony to sue them for this. Unlike other companies that canceled plans, she seems convinced that she has a solid case. Only time will tell if this is true.
Since launch, PS5 fans have been clamoring for replacement side plates, especially after a demolition of the console revealed how easy it was to remove the side panels. Since then, some companies have tried, but Sony has intervened – perhaps hoping to provide its own versions at some point in the future. DBrand is probably the best known brand for trying to do this, however, and it is already selling like hotcakes.
The matte black side panels cost $ 50 (a discount from the normal $ 60 they will return to in the future) and their first three allocation waves have already run out. At the moment, the company is receiving pending orders for a shipment that will launch in May, while orders for the digital PS5 have not yet been opened. It is possible, of course, that Sony may even have its own card offering at some point. You do not need to do any real disassembly to replace the plates. They are designed to be removed, in fact, so that you can periodically vacuum dust through special chambers in the body.
DBrand is also producing covers for the PS5’s central front panel, in case you want to get rid of its glossy finish that loves fingerprints. There are simple matte skins in neon yellow, black and white, as well as more personalized designs to choose from. They can be included in the purchase of the side plates for $ 12 or purchased separately for $ 20.
DBrand does not hesitate to challenge Sony to stop selling its products, even engraving its own exclusive patterns on the side plates to imitate the thousands of PlayStation symbols present in Sony’s white symbols. The company seems confident that these products will be shipped in the promised time, with the first batch arriving this month.
