Late Alex Trebek makes pre-recorded COVID-19 appeal on Jeopardy!

After putting production on hold due to the coronavirus pandemic, Danger! started releasing new episodes in September. This week, the final five episodes with the show’s late host will air, starting with a pre-recorded speech by Alex Trebek, filmed in October and initially scheduled for Christmas week, in which he urges viewers to open their hearts for the millions of people affected by COVID-19 across the country.

“You should remember that, about a month ago, I asked all of you to take a moment to thank for all the blessings you enjoy in your lives,” said Trebek, referring to his equally moving thanksgiving speech. “Now, today, a different kind of message: this is the time to give. I know that you want to be generous to your family, your friends, your loved ones. But today, I would like you to take it a step further. I would like you to open your hands and your hearts to those who are still suffering because of COVID-19. People who are suffering without guilt. We are trying to build a more kind and kind society and if we all contribute, just a little bit, we will get there. “

Trebek passed away on November 8, having received treatment for two years after being diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. As of Monday, January 11, Danger! champion Ken Jennings will be the guest host, with future guest hosts (and the official replacement program host) to be announced at a later date. Monday’s episode ended with a dedication to Trebek: “Forever in our hearts, always our inspiration”.
