Las Vegas Raiders RB Josh Jacobs arrested for DUI hours after victory

LAS VEGAS – Josh Jacobs, the Las Vegas Raiders’ running back in the Pro Bowl, was arrested by DUI on Monday morning, hours after the team returned from a victory at the end of the season at the Denver Broncos.

Jacobs, 22, was arrested after the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police responded to a single vehicle accident near the McCarran Airport Connector and East Sunset Road at about 4:42 am. The police suspected a disability, and Jacobs was taken to a local hospital because of minor injuries caused by the accident. After treatment, he was transported to Clark County Detention Center, where he was arrested for DUI, according to the LVMP public information officer.

Jacobs’ lawyers said they would plead not guilty if the case went so far.

“No claims have been made against our client and there are no blood test results to support a suggestion of disability,” Jacobs lawyers David Z. Chesnoff and Richard A. Schonfeld said in a statement. “We intend to file a guilty plea on behalf of Mr. Jacobs if he is charged.”

The Raiders acknowledged the incident in a statement.

“The Raiders are aware of the situation involving Josh Jacobs,” said the team. “The organization takes these matters seriously and we have no further comment at the moment.”

According to Fox 5 Vegas, Jacobs has been released from custody and has a hearing scheduled for March 8.
