Larry King’s wife Shawn King reveals his cause of death, final moments

Larry King’s wife, Shawn King, revealed her cause of death, as well as the final words she spoke to him.

The iconic television host died on Saturday morning at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles at the age of 87, leaving behind three children alive – Larry Jr., Chance and Cannon – as well as his wife, Shawn.

No cause of death was reported at the time of his death, but he had been hospitalized with COVID-19 infection weeks earlier, according to reports. In a new interview, his wife revealed that the announcer did not die of coronavirus.

“It was an infection, it was a sepsis,” she told Entertainment Tonight. “Well, he was finally ready to go, I’ll tell you that. You know, he never wanted to go, but his sweet little body was just, it had been hit so many times with so many things and once we heard the word COVID, every our hearts sank. But it beat, you know, it beat, but it took its toll and then the unrelated infection was finally what got him, but man, it wouldn’t fall easily. “

Shawn said that King’s mind “was not right” and his “body was going”, noting that it was a difficult thing to witness. The actress and the king were divorcing at the time of her death. King filed for divorce in August 2019, after 22 years of marriage.

She confirmed that the couple’s divorce “was never finalized”.

“In my heart, I didn’t think it would really happen and it never did. We were partners in every way along the way, in business and, well, first in our family and then in business. But we are a close family. You know, family is the most important thing, and God, “she said.

Shawn also mentioned King’s final moments in the hospital. She said that she and King’s children were able to face him.

“And it was difficult for him to speak, but the only message he wanted to make sure I heard was, ‘I love you, take care of the boys,'” she said.

King’s family put him to rest at a private funeral this week. She said she still feels her strong presence around her.

King has been married eight times in his lifetime, to seven different women. Shawn was his last and longest wedding.

A few months before his death, King lost two of his five adult children when Andy, 65, and Chaia, 51, died within a few weeks of each other. Andy had a heart attack while Chaia was battling lung cancer.
