Brent Bozell’s son, a conservative commentator, was charged with connection to the January 6 attack on Capitol Hill after being identified for wearing a Christian school sweatshirt where he worked as a women’s basketball coach, court records show.
Leo Brent Bozell IV – whose father’s full name is Leo Brent Bozell III – is accused of entering a restricted government building, obstructing an official process and disorderly conduct, according to a complaint filed at the Federal District Court in Washington on Tuesday market.
Court documents include several images of young Bozell in various locations within the Senate chamber, where he remained, without a mask, for about ten minutes. He is seen chatting on his phone and, at one point, appears to be repositioning a C-SPAN camera in the upper gallery of the camera.
Bozell’s father is a far-right activist known for instilling Christian values into his politics. He founded the Parents Television Council in 1995 to protect young people from what he saw as the morally degrading effect of popular culture.
Although he expressed sympathy for the frustrations expressed by supporters of former President Donald J. Trump, Mr. Bozell criticized the attack on the Capitol in no uncertain terms.
“One element advanced in illegality and caused tremendous damage to everyone else,” he told Fox News. “I think it is absolutely wrong.”
Birth records, obtained through Ancestry.com, show that young Bozell was born in 1979, the son of Brent Bozell and Norma Petruccione, who has been identified as Mr. Bozell’s oldest wife in news over the years.
The messages left for Mr. Bozell the elder were not returned immediately. The court documents did not provide information about the young Bozell’s legal representation.
A witness watching the riot video was able to identify the young Bozell, who goes by the nicknames “Zeek” or “Zeeker”, after realizing that he was wearing a blue sweatshirt printed with “Hershey Christian Academy”, a small parish school located near Harrisburg, Penn., according to the complaint.
“Bozell ceased to be the female basketball coach in March 2020, as the team could no longer practice or play, due to the Covid-19 pandemic,” the witness told an FBI agent.
