Many promising games have been canceled over the years, thankfully – many of them seem to be coming back from the dead. This year, GoldenEye 007 XBLA and Dinosaur Planet leaked online, and now to add to that, a pre-E3 demo of Resurrection of Castlevania he appeared.
This title was originally announced by Konami in 1999 and was intended to be a Sega Dreamcast release until it was postponed and then canceled around the year 2000. It is believed that the difficulties of Dreamcast and the success of the PlayStation 2 were contributing factors.
Before being canceled, it was shown to the press and now somehow, out of nowhere, a video of the game being played was uploaded to YouTube, entitled “Castlevania Resurrection exists”. It appears to be an early version of the game (prior to 1999) and has allowed the developer to transport the character to many different areas.
This title was apparently intended to focus on Sonia Belmont and a character named Victor Belmont, and would have happened in 1666, just before Simon Belmont’s original release.
It is not yet known whether the uploader for this footage will share this pre-release compilation online, but if we hear anything, we will let you know. On a related note, last week, “the worst” Castlevania game joined the Arcade Archives collection on the Nintendo Switch.
What do you think of the footage above the resurrection of Castlevania? Would you be interested in playing this before? Share your ideas below.
