Kevin McCarthy defends Dr. Seuss with a dramatic reading of ‘Green Eggs and Ham’

He will read Seuss here or there, he will read anywhere.

House minority leader Kevin McCarthy is adjusting the warriors of the cancellation culture with a heartfelt reading of Dr. Seuss’ classic “Green Eggs and Ham” on Twitter.

“I still like Dr. Seuss, so I decided to read Eggs and green ham”, the California Republican wrote Friday night, urging viewers to “RT if you still like it too!”

The message accompanied a five-minute video of McCarthy solemnly presenting the well-loved book and his rhyming tale of Sam-I-am and his unappetizing culinary creation.

A few days after the news, six of Seuss’ best-selling children’s books will no longer be published due to the alleged racism on their pages.

Sales of the six books – “If I ran the zoo”, “And think I saw it on Mulberry Street”, “McElligot’s Pool”, “On Beyond Zebra!”, “Scrambled Eggs Super!” and “The Cat’s Quizzer” – skyrocketed after the announcement, and the online auction site eBay canceled sales of old copies after they started selling for hundreds of dollars each.

On Saturday morning, Seuss fans gave McCarthy’s video 2.6 million views on Twitter – and nearly 10,000 retweets.
