Buffalo Bills is seeking additional help from the wide receiver in time for the playoffs, despite its attack reaching near-record numbers for the franchise. Buffalo is expected to hire free agent Kenny Stills’ wide receiver after a scheduled visit by Aaron Wilson from Houston Chronicle. Stills, a deep ball catcher by profession, has fought in his 10 games for the Houston Texans this season, scoring just 11 passes for 144 yards and a touchdown. He was released by Houston in November.
Bills coach Sean McDermott did not elaborate on Stills’ impending visit and its correlation with Cole Beasley’s knee injury. Beasley is out of Sunday’s regular season final against the Miami Dolphins and has not trained all week. If the Bills complete the subscription to the Stills, the chances increase. Beasley is also out of the wild card game.
“He is a player that (general manager of Bills) Brandon (Beane) has been eyeing for some time,” said McDermott, according to Buffalo News. “Nothing is official up to this point.”
Bills also activated reserve receiver / COVID-19 wide receiver John, as he will play on Sunday after not being listed in the final injury report. Buffalo will enter the playoffs with Stefon Diggs, Gabriel Davis and Brown as the three main options on the wide receiver if Beasley is out – with Stills providing the necessary depth if he signs.
Stills averaged 15.6 yards per catch in his career for three teams with 37 touchdowns in eight seasons. Stills recorded 18 touchdown receptions in more than 30 yards since his debut year (2013), tied for fifth in the NFL. Buffalo set a passing yard franchise record in one season (4,243) and is three touchdowns from reaching the franchise record in that category (39). Adding Stills is another weapon for an already powerful attack.
