She will be on television tonight as the first female presenter of the game show Jeopardy!

And Katie Couric says it was not difficult to accept the show when offered.

“It is an American institution and the opportunity to play a small role in the continuation of this program was something I did not want to miss,” said the 64-year-old in an interview posted on YouTube on Sunday,

The veteran TV anchor will present the CBS game show until March 19 as one of a series of guest presenters following the death from cancer of legendary longtime host Alex Trebek.

Couric admitted that she was nervous about taking on the leading role.

‘The last thing I wanted to do was come here to mess up and embarrass the show,’ she shared.

‘The question is, everyone here [at Jeopardy!] takes such good care of you and it was a relief to know that they were not going to let me look like an idiot and were going to support me and help me, ‘she said.

Her presenter show will also raise money for the charity she co-founded Stand Up To Cancer with the program, donating an amount equal to the participants’ accumulated earnings.

Trebek passed away in November, after a long battle with cancer.

Danger! champion Ken Jennings initially took the reins before CBS announced that, for now, no permanent replacement hosts will be named.

In addition to Couric, Anderson Cooper, Savannah Guthrie, Dr. Mehmet Oz, Dr. Sanjay Gupta, Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers, actress Mayim Bialik and journalist Bill Whitaker were chosen to present the question and answer program.
